Mein Foto der Woche entstand an der Amalfi Küste in Italien. Nachdem ich immer noch nicht wieder gut zu Fuß bin, habe ich einige Fotos sortiert und bin auf dieses Bild gestoßen. Aufgenommen wurde es an einem kühleren Spätsommer Abend im September 2023. Die meisten Touristen haben die Gegend verlassen und die am Strand noch aufgereihten Sonnenschirme verraten, wie voll es im Sommer gewesen ist.
Ich mag die Melancholie, die das Bild auf mich ausstrahlt. Das gleiche Gefühl kenne ich, wenn die Sommertage zu Enden gehen, es abends früher dunkel wird und man sich wünscht, dass der Sommer noch ein wenig länger bleiben kann.

My photo of the week was taken at the Amalfi Coast in Italy. Since I’m still not fully recovered and can’t walk very well, I was looking through some older photos and came across this one. It was taken on a cool late summer evening in September 2023. Most of the tourists had left the region, and the umbrellas still lined up on the beach revealed how crowded it had been during the summer.
I like the melancholy the image evokes. I know the same feeling when the summer days are coming to an end, it gets dark earlier in the evening, and you wish summer could last a little longer.
Das Foto dieser Woche ist anders, als ich erwartet habe. Ursprünglich habe ich geplant, einige Bilder in Portugal in Porto zu machen. Leider kam eine Verletzung, die ich mir bereits im Urlaub in Norwegen zugezogen hatte, dazwischen, und somit stehen die nächsten zwei Wochen leider keine Reisen an, sondern die Schonung meines Fußes.
Dieses Foto entstand im Treppenhaus meiner Krankenversicherungsgesellschaft.

This week’s photo is different than I expected. I originally planned to take some photos in Porto, Portugal. Unfortunately, an injury I got while on vacation in Norway crossed my plans, so for the next days , I will unfortunately not be traveling, but resting my foot.
This photo was taken inside the building of my health insurance company.
Toulouse hat sehr tolle alte Gebäude, oft mit alten Fensterläden, schönen Türen und kleinen Geschäften. Mein Ziel war es, verschiedene Häuserzeilen zu fotografieren. Das Haus mit dem Schokoladen-Geschäft und der Weinhandlung hat mir auf Grund der alten Schrift gut gefallen,
Das Mädchen hinten auf dem Rad hat Schokolade in diesem Geschäft gekauft, nachdem es lange die Auslage im Schaufenster angeschaut hat. Ich wollte das Bild lange nicht aufnehmen, da die wartende Mutter mit ihrem Rad sehr ungünstig im Foto positioniert war. Nachdem das Mädchen dann aus dem Geschäft rauskommen ist und mit ihrer Mutter weiterfuhr, entstand diese Aufnahme.

The story behind the photo:
Toulouse has some very beautiful old buildings, often with old shutters, beautiful doors, and small shops. My goal was to photograph various rows of houses. I liked the house with the chocolate shop and the wine shop because of the old lettering.
The girl on the back of the bike bought chocolate in this shop after spending a long time looking at the display in the window. I didn’t want to take the picture for a while because the waiting mother and her bike were not positioned well in the photo. This shot was taken after the girl left the shop and moved on with her mother.
Nachdem ich momentan Bilder für einen Fotowettbewerb sichte und hochwertige Probedrucke bestellt habe, möchte ich gerne einen Probedruck verlosen.
Das Maß des Fine Art -Prints ist 20x15cm und das Foto ist gedruckt auf einem hochwertigen Papier in Museumsqualität.
Aufgenommen wurde das Foto am Lake Naivasha in Kenia.

Die letzte Urlaubswoche geht zu Ende und mein Foto der Woche ist in Bergen entstanden. Bergen ist die zweitgrößte Stadt in Norwegen und Heimat von etwas ĂĽber 293.000 Menschen, Stuttgart – meine Heimat – hat im Vergleich ca. 607.000 Einwohner und ist die sechst größte Stadt in Deutschland.
Bergen eignet sich auch toll für Strassen- und Architekturfotografie und auch der große Hafen bietet viele Möglichkeiten für spannende Fotos.

The last week of vacation is coming to an end, and my photo of the week was taken in Bergen. Bergen is the second-largest city in Norway and home to just over 293,000 people. In comparison, Stuttgart—my hometown—has approximately 607,000 inhabitants and is the sixth-largest city in Germany.
Bergen is also great for street and architecture photography, and the large harbor also offers many opportunities for exciting photos.
Diese Woche ist es mir sehr schwer gefallen, das Foto der Woche auszuwählen. Auf unserem Road Trip durch Norwegen haben wir so viele tolle Orte gesehen, und gefühlt ist an jeder Ecke eine neue Möglichkeit, ein tolles Bild zu aufzunehmen.
Besonders gerne mag ich Wasserfälle, nicht nur aus fotografischer Sicht. Der Vøringsfossen hat eine Fallhöhe von 182 m und liegt im Inneren des Hardangerfjord und Dank der guten Erreichbarkeit und der Infrastruktur vor Ort ist er einer der beliebtesten Wasserfälle in Norwegen. Die nächste größere Stadt ist Bergen, die ca. 170 km entfernt ist.

This week, I had a really hard time choosing my photo of the week. On our road trip through Norway, we saw so many amazing places, and it felt like there was a new opportunity to capture a great photo around every corner.
I am a waterfall lover, not only from a photographic perspective. Vøringsfossen, with a drop of 182 meters, is located in the inner part of the Hardangerfjord. Thanks to its easy accessibility and the local infrastructure, it is one of the most popular waterfalls in Norway. The nearest major city is Bergen, it’s about 170 km away.
Mein Foto der Woche entstand am Lindesnes Fyr. Lindesnes Fyr ist eine Leuchtturm Anlage am sĂĽdlichsten Ort des Festlandes von Norwegen. 1655 wurde hier Norwegens erstes Leuchtfeuer angezĂĽndet.

My photo of the week was taken at Lindesnes Lighthouse. Lindesnes Lighthouse is a lighthouse complex located at the southernmost point of mainland Norway. Norway’s first lighthouse was lit here in 1655.
Mein Foto dieser Woche habe ich in der Altstadt von Hyderabad aufgenommen. Ich liebe Menschen, deren Gesichter Geschichten erzählen.
Dieser Mann saĂź an der StraĂźe, in seinem Gedanken verloren und dennoch mit wachen Augen. Ich habe schon viele Fotos gemacht, auf denen die Menschen direkt in die Linse schauen, und dennoch mag ich auch die Fotos, auf denen die Menschen nicht in die Kamera schauen. Ich schau mir solche Fotos an und habe das GefĂĽhl, dabei zu sein, ohne dass man als Fotograf die Aufmerksamkeit bindet. Die Menschen wirken oft authentischer und weniger gestellt.
Eine Möglichkeit, solche Fotos zu bekommen ist, wenn man mit einem anderen Fotografen unterwegs ist. Während er sich unterhält und vielleicht ein frontales Foto macht und man dann eben unbemerkt sein Bild von der Seite schiesst. Eine andere Möglichkeit ist, das Bild unbemerkt aus der Hüfte aufzunehmen. Hier besteht allerdings die Gefahr, nicht alles auf das Bild zu bekommen.

I took my photo this week in Hyderabad’s old town. I love people whose faces tell stories.
This man was sitting next to a road, lost in his thoughts, but with alerted eyes. I’ve taken many photos where people look directly into the lens, but I also like photos where people aren’t looking at the camera. I look at such photos and feel like I’m there, without the photographer taking to much attention. The people often seem more authentic and less staged.
One way to get such photos is to be out with another photographer. While they’re chatting, perhaps they’re taking a head-on shot, and then you discreetly take your shot from the side. Another option is to discreetly shoot from the hip. However, there’s a risk of not getting everything in the frame.
Auf meiner letzten Reise war ich in Nairobi, Kenia und es ist mir wirklich schwer gefallen, mein Lieblingsbild zu finden, welches das Foto der Woche geworden ist. Am Ende habe ich mich für dieses Foto des Löwen entschieden, da ich etwas zur Entstehung des Bildes erzählen will.
Der Nationalpark liegt am Stadtrand Nairobis ca. 7 km vom Zentrum entfernt und man kann in diesem Park sehr gut sehen, wie nah Stadt und Infrastruktur und die Natur zusammen leben: die Flugzeuge, die am internationalen Flughafen landen.ĂĽberfliegen den Park in niedriger Höhe, die Schnellzug-Trasse Nairobi – Mombase fĂĽhrt erhöht durch den Park und die Skyline Nairobis sieht man häufig im Hintergrund und oft kann man Tiere in Kombination mit der Skyline fotografieren.
Im Park gibt es ein großes Artenreichtum, Elefanten sind allerdings nicht zu finden, da der Park hierzu zu klein ist. Es gibt über 80 Arten von Säugetieren und über 500 Vogelarten.
Die Löwen scheinen sehr an die vielen Safari Autos gewöhnt zu sein und ignorieren diese komplett. An diesem Morgen waren die Löwen umringt von vielen Autos – es ist schwer zu sagen, ob die Löwen den Autos so nahe kamen oder die Autos den Löwen, denn die Tiere lagen inmitten eines Weges.
Dieser Löwe war mit zwei Weibchen dort gelegen und als ein landendes Flugzeug über den Park geflogen ist, hat er das Geräusch verfolgt und nach oben geschaut. Ich hatte Glück, genau in diesem Moment die Kamera mit einem Teleobjektiv bereit gehabt zu haben.

On my last trip, I was in Nairobi, Kenya, and I had a really hard time choosing my favorite photo to feature as Photo of the Week. In the end, I chose this photo of the lion because I wanted to tell how the picture came about.
The national park is located on the outskirts of Nairobi, about 7 km from the city center, and in this park you can clearly see how closely the city, its infrastructure, and nature live together: the planes landing at the international airport fly over the park at low altitude, the high-speed train line Nairobi-Mombase runs elevated through the park, and the Nairobi skyline can often be seen in the background, and you can take photos of animals in combination with the skyline.
The park is home to a great diversity of species, although elephants cannot be found here. There are over 80 species of mammals and over 500 species of birds.
The lions seem to be very used to the many safari vehicles and completely ignore them. This morning, the lions were surrounded by many cars—it’s hard to tell whether the lions were getting so close to the cars or the cars to the lions, as the animals were lying in the middle of a road.
This lion was lying there with two females and when a landing plane flew over the park, he followed the sound and looked up to the sky. I was lucky to have my camera with a tele lens ready at this moment.
