Das Foto der Woche zeigt einen meiner Lieblingsplätze in Val Thorens, wo wir seit 20 Jahren unseren jährlichen Ski Urlaub verbringen. Am See ist eine tolle Gaststätte mit Sonnenterasse und einem unglaublich schönen Panoramablick. Zu erreichen ist der See über einen Wanderweg oder abseits der gesteckten Skipisten.

The photo of the week shows one of my most favorite places in Val Thorens where we spent our annual ski holidays since 20 years. Next to the lake is a good restaurant with a sunny terrace and an incredible panoramic view. To get to the lake you may use a hiking trail or you need to go off-piste by skis or board.
Mein Foto der Woche entstand gestern in den französischen Alpen. Die Trois Vallées umfassen die Orte Orelle, Val Thorens, Meribel und Courchevel und ist das größte zusammenhängende Skigebiet der Welt und das höchste Europas.

My photo of the week was taken yesterday in the French Alps. The Trois Vallées with the villages Orelle, Val Thorens, Meribel and Courchevel is the largest ski area in the world and the highest in Europe.
Entstanden ist mein Foto der Woche in Chicago. Bei -16° hatte ich morgens Mühe, aus dem Bett zu kommen und ich habe mir überlegt, was ich spannendes fotografieren könnte. Das Foto zeigt die Sicht aus meinem Hotelzimmer aus einer anderen Perspektive:
Oben rechts ist die tatsächliche Aussicht, unten rechts spiegelt sich die Häuserwand in einem schwarzen Rahmen eines Spiegels, welcher die Spiegelung auf der kompletten linken Seite des Fotos einfängt.

My photo of the week was captured in Chicago. As we only had -16° Celsius I had some difficulties to get out of my cozy bed and I was thinking about whether there is something interesting to take a photo of. The photo shows the view out of my hotel room but from a different perspective:
Up right is the actual view out of the window, down right is a reflection in a black frame of a mirror on the wall which fills the complete left side of the picture with another reflection.
Zu meinem Geburtstag habe ich die Teilnahme an einem Fotowettbewerb geschenkt bekommen. Die Bilder werden in einer Galerie in Stuttgart ausgestellt, es gibt sowohl eine Jury-Wertung, als auch eine Besucher-Wertung. Beim Besucherpreis zählt jede Stimme, die vor Ort abgegeben wird.

Mein Foto der Woche entstand in Rio de Janeiro, Brasilien und zeigt den Blick aus meinem Hotelzimmer im 21. Stock. Leider kein Meerblick, aber dennoch eine spannende Perspektive, wenn man steil nach unten schaut.
My photo of the week was taken in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and shows the view of my hotel room located on the 21. floor. Unfortunately there was no sea view but getting a new perspective when looking straight down is exciting, too.
In meiner Heimatstadt gibt es im Zentrum ein Gebäude, an dem ich schon so oft vorbei gegangen bin. Ich hatte ihm nie Beachtung geschenkt, zumal es auch nicht öffentlich ist. Diese Woche hatte ich einen Termin in genau diesem Gebäude und war überrascht, was für ein schönes Treppenhaus sich darin befindet.
In the center of my hometown is a building which I passed by many times and never paid attention to. But this week I had an appointment inside the building and I was surprised by the beautiful staircase.
Am letzten Tag von 2024 schaue ich zurück auf ein Jahr voller interessanter Begegnungen, eindrucksvoller Reisen und einer persönlichen Weiterentwicklung .
In keinem Jahr haben mich meine Dienste öfter nach Indien geführt und ich konnte mir den Wunsch, das Taj Mahal zu sehen, endlich erfüllen.
Ich habe meine eigene Webseite erstellt, ein neues Logo erhalten und die Möglichkeit bekommen, Bilder von mir auszustellen. Das Feedback, das ich zu den ausgestellten Bildern bekomme , freut mich sehr und ich weiß es sehr zu schätzen , wenn jemand seine Gedanken mit mir teilt.
Ich möchte mich bedanken bei meiner Familie und meinen Freunden und Unterstützern und natürlich den Besuchern der Webseite und den Betrachtern meiner Fotos.
Ich wünsche uns allen ein spannendes, friedliches und erfülltes Neues Jahr mit Freude, Glück, Gesundheit und Zufriedenheit.
It’s the last day of 2024 and I look back to a year with interesting encounters, impressive journeys and a personal development in photography.
I never have been to India more often than this year and I fulfilled my dream to see the Taj Mahal.
I launched my own website, I got my new logo and I got the chance to show some photos in an exhibition. I really appreciate the feedback received and I am honored and pleased for the shared thoughts and words concerning my work.

Mein Foto der Woche entstand während meines Ausflugs von Hyderabad nach Deverkonda in Indien. Normalerweise probiere ich das harte Sonnenlicht in der Mittagszeit zu vermeiden, aber hier betont das starke Licht die Konturen ganz gut.
My photo of the week was captured during my trip from Hyderabad to Deverkonda in India. I usually try to avoid the harsh sunlight around noon, but in this shot the bright sun light accentuates the face quite well.
Das Ziel war Deverkonda, 135 km südlich von Hyderabad. Dort gibt es einen Basar, auf welchem die Frauen der Lambani Bevölkerung ihre traditionelle Kleidung und Accessoires einkaufen. Die Kleidung und der Schmuck werden auch dort gefertigt und man sieht sehr viele Frauen und Männer mit Nähmaschinen bei der Arbeit.
Das Herstellen eines Kopftuches oder eines Schals dauert ca 15 Tage. In die ganze Kleidung sind kleine Spiegel eingenäht und der Stoff ist dick und schwer. Vielleicht ist das einer der Gründe dafür, dass bei jüngeren Generationen die traditionelle Kleidung nicht mehr oft getragen wird, zumal nur verheiratete Frauen die Tracht tragen dürfen.
Today’s destination was Deverkonda located 135 km south of Hyderabad. There is a market with traditional clothing and accessories where the women of the Lambani tribe buy their clothing. The items sold there are also produced and manufactured here and you can see a lot of sewers working.
Making a scarf takes around 15 days. There are many mirrors attached to the clothing and the fabric is thick and heavy. Maybe this is one of the reasons why many women do not dress up in the traditional attire – especially with the younger generations. Only married women are allowed to wear these dresses.
