Obwohl das Wetter diese Woche super war und ich auch frei hatte, war es eine der Wochen in denen ich mich nicht so richtig aufraffen konnte, die Kamera in die Hand zu nehmen. Ich habe lange überlegt, ob ich nicht einfach ein älteres Foto hochlade, da ich beim Durchstöbern meiner Festplatten einige tolle Fotos gefunden habe. Aber es entspricht natürlich nicht meinem eigenen Anspruch.

Unentschlossen war ich, ob ich mit dem großen Zoom-Objektiv los ziehe und Vögel oder Rehe zu fotografieren, ob ich ein bisschen Street-Photography machen soll oder mal wieder ein schönes Treppenhaus finde. Am Ende habe ich dann meine kleine Fotosoftbox ausgepackt und habe mit längeren Belichtungszeiten und Bewegung rumexperimentiert.

Als Unter- und Hintergrund habe ich eine schwarze Pappe gewählt, ein einfaches LED Licht von oben und als Gegenstand eine Blüte, die schon zu Hause in einem Blumenstrauß steckte. Verwendet habe ich ein Makro-Objektiv.

Einstellung: ISO 200, Blende f/22, Brennweite 60mm, Belichtungszeit 0.8 Sekunden.

Aber was ist eigentlich ICM – Intentional Camera Movement?

ICM ist eine abstrakte Fotografie-Technik, bei der die Kamera absichtlich bewegt wird, also nach oben oder unten, rechts oder links, man kann die Kamera drehen oder schütteln. Alle Arten der Bewegung machen das Bild einzigartig und verleihen dem Foto eine Ästhetik, die oft an ein modernes Gemälde erinnern. Um ausreichend Zeit für Bewegung zu haben, muss die Belichtungszeit entsprechend erhöht werden.

Although the weather was fantastic this week and I had the days off, it was one of those weeks where I just couldn’t bring myself to pick up my camera. I was thinking about whether to simply upload an older photo, as I found some great ones while browsing my hard drives. But of course, it doesn’t meet my own standards.

I was undecided whether to go out with the big zoom lens and photograph birds or deer, whether to do some street photography, or whether to find a nice stairwell again. In the end, I unpacked my small softbox and experimented with long exposure times and movement.

I chose a black cardboard as a background, a simple LED light from above, and a flower that was already in a bouquet at home as my subject. I used a macro lens.

Settings: ISO 200, aperture f/22, focal length 60mm, exposure time 0.8 seconds.

But what is ICM – Intentional Camera Movement?

ICM (Intelligent Camera Movement) is an abstract photography technique in which the camera is intentionally moved—up or down, sidewards, rotated, or shaken. All these movements make the image unique and give the photograph an aesthetic often reminiscent of a modern painting. To allow sufficient time for the movement, the exposure time must be increased accordingly.
