Photo competition

Letzten Samstag gingen die Swiss Photo Club Awards zu Ende. Über eine Woche hingen zwei Bilder in der Strzelski Galerie in Stuttgart und es gab tolle Preise zu gewinnen. Neben der Jury Wertung (Top 50 Nominierungen und daraus ein Gewinnerbild und 5 „honerable mention“ ohne Sachpreis) gab es 4 weitere Gewinner durch das Publikums Voting und zwei zusätzliche Sponsoren-Wertungen.

Meine Fotos haben wie folgt abgeschlossen:

red eye: top 50 Nominierung der Jury und Publikumswertung Platz: 5

big mouth: Publikumswertung Platz 44

Ich möchte mich ganz herzlich bei allen Abstimmenden bedanken, die für meine Fotos abgestimmt haben. Ich bin mir durchaus bewusst, dass es schwierig ist, nit Tierbildern einen Wettbewerb ohne spezifisches Thema zu gewinnen, da wir doch durch Reportagen, Bücher und Dokumentationen mit perfekten Fotos und Bewegtbildern konfrontiert werden.

Aber ich bin auch ein wenig enttäuscht, dass es dieses Mal nicht gereicht hat, dass einige meiner Freunde, die in der gleichen Stadt wohnen, es nicht einrichten konnten oder wollten, ggfs. nur zehn Minuten Zeit zu investieren und in der Galerie bei freiem Eintritt abzustimmen.

Ich darf es natürlich nicht überbewerten, manchmal lässt es sich einfach nicht einrichten, man wird krank, ist verreist oder die Welt steht an anderer Stelle irgendwie Kopf, aber in manchen Gesprächen und Chats blieb ich dann diesbezüglich schon ratlos und in manchen Fällen auch traurig zurück.

Photo Competition

The Competition „Swiss Photo Club Awards“ ended last Saturday. More than a week two of my photos were exhibited at the Strzelski Gallery in Stuttgartand there were awesome prizes to win. Beside a Jury Prize (they made a top 50-Ranking and chose one of the photos as the winning photo and shouted out 5 honorable mentions) there were 4 prizes through the ranking of the public voting and 2 additional winners chosen by sponsors.

I would like to thank everyone who voted for my photos! I knew right from the start that it’s hard entering the category-free competition with animal photos as we see perfect photos and movies through documentaries, books and footages.

But of course I am also a little disappointed that this time it wasn’t enough, that some of my friends who live in the same city couldn’t or wouldn’t manage to invest even just ten minutes of their time and vote in the gallery with free admission.

I know, I shouldn’t overemphasize it; sometimes it’s simply impossible to arrange, you get sick, you’re traveling, or the world is somehow turned upside down elsewhere, but in some conversations and chats about visiting the event, I was left feeling quite perplexed and in some cases even sad about this.
