KW 24/25

Diese Woche war ich in Neu Delhi in Indien. Indien ist eines der Länder, wo ich immer sehr gerne in der Stadt unterwegs bin und fotografiere. Neben der Strassenfotografie fotografiere ich dort gerne Menschen. Mir gefallen besonders gut Gesichter, die eine Geschichte erzählen.

Dieses Foto entstand in Old Delhi, Delhi’s Altstadt. Dort gibt es unterschiedlichste Märkte und die Gassen sind voller Leben.

Diesen Monat werde ich noch in Mumbai und Chennai sein. In Mumbai hat der Monsun bereits eingesetzt und ich bin gespannt, ob es nächste Woche ein spannendes Foto der Woche aus von dort geben wird..

This week I was in New Delhi, India. India is one of the countries where I always enjoy exploring the city and taking photographs. In addition to street photography, I also like to photograph people. I especially like faces that tell a story.

This photo was captured in Old Delhi, the old city centre of Delhi. There can be found different markets and the alleys are full of light.

I will be in Mumbai and Chennai this month. The monsoon has already started in Mumbai, and I’m curious to see if there will be an exciting photo of the week from there next week.

Die blaue Stunde ist ein Zeitfenster, in welchem die Sonne noch nicht aufgegangen oder bereits untergegangen wird. Das Licht, bzw. die Helligkeit verändert sich minütlich und taucht die Umgebung in ein kühles und gleichmäßiges Licht. Besonders gut lassen sich zu dieser Zeit Stadtansichten fotografieren, zumal es auch die Zeit ist, wenn Lichter angeschaltet werden – sowohl Strassenlichter, Leuchten in Wohnungen, Büros und Geschäften oder aber auch die Lichter fahrender Fahrzeuge.

Da ich mich aktuell im ländlicheren Griechenland befinde, saß ich zur blauen Stunde noch am Strand. Auch in der Landschaftsfotografie kann man die kühlere Lichtstimmung gut nutzen, um ruhige, melancholische und stimmungsvolle Aufnahmen zu machen.

The blue hour is a time frame when the sun has not yet risen or has already set. The light, or rather the brightness, changes every minute, bathing the surroundings in a cool and even glow. Cityscapes are particularly well-suited for photographing during this time, especially since it is also the time when lights are switched on – streetlights, lights in homes, offices, and shops, and even the lights of moving vehicles.

Since I’m currently in rural Greece, I was still sitting on the beach at twilight. In landscape photography, the cooler light can also be used to create calm, melancholic, and atmospheric shots.

Mein Foto der Woche zeigt die Neue Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart. Der Erweiterungsbau zur Staatsgalerie wurde 1984 eröffnet und ist vom Architekten James Stirling im postmodernen Stil entworfen worden.

Ich persönlich finde die verschiedenen Ebenen, Formen und Farben spannend, und sowohl bei Tag als auch bei Nacht, ob mit oder ohne Menschen lassen sich spannende Blickwinkel finden.

My photo of the week shows the Neue Staatsgalerie (New State Gallery) in Stuttgart. The extension to the Staatsgalerie (State Gallery) opened in 1984 and was designed by architect James Stirling in the postmodern style.

Personally, I find the different levels, shapes and colors fascinating, and whether by day or by night, with or without people, you can find exciting perspectives.

Das Foto der Woche ist in Rio de Janeiro aufgenommen. Eigentlich hatte ich viele Ideen für Fotos, leider hat mir das Wetter einen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht. Es hatte fast nur geregnet und war zudem auch noch richtig kühl. Ich glaube, ich muss einfach bald wieder hin.

My photo of the week was taken in Rio de Janeiro. I had quite a few ideas for photos this time – unfortunately the weather was too bad for the photos. It was raining almost the whole time and even the temperature was quite low. I bet I should go there again soon.

Seit mehreren Wochen war ich auf der Suche nach guten Ansitzen für Eisvögel. In der Tat habe ich auch viele gute Ansitze gefunden, aber leider nicht die passenden Vögel dazu. Ich habe zwar den ein oder anderen Eisvogel gesehen, aber entweder war er zu weit weg oder – so wie meistens – am vorbeifliegen.

Diese Woche war ich morgens spazieren und habe meine Blick am See immer nah an der Wasserobfläche gehalten und gut hingehört, da man den Eisvogel gut am Ruf erkennen kann. Habe dann tatsächlich einen gesehen, auf einem Ansitz. Da ich meine Kamera im Rucksack hatte – habe ich nur zugeschaut, wie er einen Fisch fing und dann weg flog. Ich habe mir ein passendes Versteck gesucht (Eisvögel sindleicht zu stören und kommen auch nicht, wenn man zu nahe dran ist) und gewartet, bis er zurück gekommen ist.

For several weeks, I’ve been searching for some good perches for kingfishers. I did indeed find many good perches, but unfortunately, I didn’t find the right birds. I did see one or two kingfishers, but they were either too far away or—as it is usually the case—flying by.

This week I went for a morning walk by the lake, keeping my eyes on the water’s surface and listening carefully, as you can easily identify a kingfisher by its call. I actually saw one sitting on a perch. As I had my camera in my backpack, I just watched as it caught a fish and then flew away. I found a suitable hiding place (kingfishers are very easily disturbed and won’t come if you get too close) and waited until it returned.

Mein Foto der Woche entstand auf dem Stuttgarter Frühlingsfest. Besonders gerne mag ich die Attraktionen, die es schon in meiner Kindheit gab: Musik-Express, Kettenkarussell, Wilde Maus, Boxautos oder eben das Fotoschiessen.

Aufgewachsen bin ich in einer Stadt im Nordschwarzwald und einmal im Jahr ist dort Jahrmarkt. Schon als Kind mochte ich die bunten Lichter der Fahrgeschäfte und wer hatte als Junge nicht davon geträumt, der junge Mann zum Mitreisen zu sein. Meine Oma gab uns Kindern immer ein Extra-Taschengeld für diese Woche und selten hat es den ersten Tag überlebt.

Heutzutage sind die Attraktionen schneller, wilder und größer, aber ich mag am liebsten immer noch die Klassiker.

Meine Eltern haben jedes Jahr ein Farbfoto geschossen. 10 Schuss und der zehnte Treffer löste das Bild aus. Ab dem neunten Treffer hat man sich also in Pose gestellt, krampfhaft gelächelt und dann gespannt abgewartet, bis das Bild entwickelt war.

My photo of the week was taken at the spring fair in Stuttgart. Most of all I like the attractions which we already had in my childhood, and one of them was shooting a colored photo while using a gun and target.

I grew up in a small city located at the northern part of the Black Forest. Once a year there was a fair in town and I always loved the colorful lights of the carousels and rides. My grandma always gave us some extra money to spend for the week and we always spent it within the first day.

Nowadays the attractions are much more spectacular, faster and wilder but I still prefer the classics.

My parents used to shoot a photo every year. You need to shoot ten times with a gun on a target. When striking the target with the ninth shot people started to strike a pose, smiling awkwardly and then waited curiously for the photo to be developed.

KW 17/25

Obwohl Bergen so viele tolle Fotospots hat, habe ich mich für mein Foto der Woche für dieses entschieden. Zu sehen sind die alten Holzhäuser des Stadtteils Bryggen in Bergen, ehemals errichtet von den Hanseaten, die 1340 ein Auslandskontor außerhalb Deutschlands errichtet haben.

Das Stadtviertel wurde von vielen Bränden heimgesucht und wurde immer wieder erreichtet. Heute sind dort viele Geschäfte, Cafés, Kunstateliers und Handwerksbetriebe. Bryggen ist ein UNESCO Weltkulturerbe.

Although Bergen has so many great photo spots, I chose this one for my photo of the week. It shows the old wooden houses in Bergen’s Bryggen district, originally built by the Hanseatic Trading League, who established a trading post outside of Germany in 1340.

The district has been destroyed by many fires and has been repeatedly rebuilt. Today, it is home to many shops, cafés, art studios, and craft workshops. Bryggen is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Das Foto der Woche entstand in der Nähe von Marbella. Während der Hauptsaison ist der Strand immer stark besucht, aber die letzten Tage waren sehr windig. Dadurch hatte ich die Möglichkeit, ein Bild ohne störende Strandtücher, Menschen oder Sonnenschirme aufzunehmen.

The photo of the week was taken near Marbella. During the main season the beach is packed with people – but the last days have been very windy and so I got the chance to capture a clean shot with no distracting beach towels, people or umbrellas.
