Rainy Days
Ich hatte ein wenig Zeit in Frankfurt und als ich in der Innenstadt angekommen bin, hat es in Strömen geregnet. Also bin ich erst mal Kaffee trinken gegangen, dann war ich in der Leica Galerie und habe mir eine Fotoausstellung angeschaut und als der Regen aufhörte, habe ich einen Spaziergang durch Frankfurt unternommen. Neben der modernen Skyline gibt es auch viele alte Gebäude und so habe ich probiert, fotografisch das Beste aus dem Regentag rauszuholen: Spiegelungen in Pfützen.
Wie nimmt man am Besten solch ein Foto auf? Man findet eine Pfütze, die groß genug ist, um ausreichend Spiegelung aufzunehmen. Im Idealfall spiegelt sich natürlich was interessantes drin. Häuser, Bäume, Wolken oder Menschen eigenen sich besonders gut. Je mehr Kontrast im Bild ist, desto spannender wird das Ergebnis. Auch das Spielen mit dem Fokus kann tolle Effekte erzeugen, wenn die Spiegelung zum Beispiel scharf ist, der Hintergrund aber leicht verschwommen ist. Meiner Meinung nach erzielt man das beste Ergebnis, wenn man mit der Kamera so tief wie möglich an die Oberfläche des Wassers geht. Evtl. hilft auch ein Weitwinkelobjektiv, um möglichst viele Objekte im Bild zu haben.
Ein wenig Nacharbeit war erforderlich, ein bisschen mehr Kontrast, ein wenig mehr Klarheit und die Tiefen in der Pfütze habe ich auch sichtbarer gemacht.
I had some time in Frankfurt, and when I arrived downtown, it was pouring rain. So, I went for a coffee first, then visited the Leica Gallery and looked at a photo exhibition, and when the rain stopped, I took a walk through Frankfurt. Besides the modern skyline, there are also many old buildings, so I tried to make the most of the rainy day photographically: reflections in puddles.
How do you take such a photo? Find a puddle large enough to capture a sufficient reflection. Ideally, something interesting is reflected in it. Houses, trees, clouds, or people work well. The more contrast in the image, the more striking the result. Playing with the focus can also create great effects, for example, if the reflection is sharp but the background is slightly blurred. In my opinion, you achieve the best results by getting as close to the water’s surface as possible with the camera. A wide-angle lens might also help to include as many objects as possible in the frame.
A little editing was needed, a bit more contrast, a bit more clarity, and I also made the depths in the puddle more visible.
